Why WHtR beats BMI for metabolic risk screening

Keeping your waist below half your height (WHtR under 0.50) is a simple, reliable rule for tracking your risk of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease, and it shows belly fat more clearly than BMI alone.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions and glossary

What is useful to know before screening, booking or receiving a meal plan.

Are the meal plans pre-made?
No. Each plan is set by the doctor after reviewing your blood tests, body composition, medications and eating habits, and delivered within 24–48 business hours.
Do I need to cook separately from my family?
No. Everyday Iranian dishes such as khoresht, polo, kuku and ash are included, with adjusted portions of rice, whole-grain bread, protein and oil.
How does the tracking code work, and what if I change browser?
After your first screening you receive a six-character code that keeps your chart without a password. Data is stored only in this browser, so keep a copy of the code and numbers with "Copy summary" or "Send on WhatsApp".
Why is a specialist meal plan needed with GLP-1 weight-loss medication?
In clinical trials a substantial share of the weight lost on these medicines (up to about 40% in some studies) was lean mass. Enough protein, spread across meals, and monitoring arm circumference help preserve muscle.
Which tests do I need for a clinical file?
The suggested list is on the Services page. You do not need to type the numbers; upload a photo or PDF of the report in the step-two form.
How are my questions answered after I receive my plan?
Active files are answered through the clinic messenger on working days from 9:00 to 15:00; messages after 15:00 are answered the next working morning.

Glossary of measures

BMI (Body Mass Index)Weight (kg) divided by height squared (m); the WHO baseline measure, best read together with waist size.
WHtR (waist-to-height ratio)Waist divided by height; NICE guidance recommends keeping it below 0.50.
MUAC (mid-upper arm circumference)Arm circumference halfway between shoulder and elbow; a simple sign for tracking muscle reserve during weight loss.
BMR and TDEEBMR is the energy your body uses at rest; TDEE is total daily energy including activity.
DASH and Mediterranean patternsTwo eating patterns with the strongest evidence for blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and heart and liver health.
GLP-1 medicationsMedicines for diabetes and obesity that work by increasing fullness and slowing stomach emptying.

The 2023 international guideline on nutrition in PCOS

In PCOS, lifestyle change (healthy eating and regular physical activity) is the first-line treatment. No specific trendy diet is clearly superior; what works is a plan tailored to your body, your lab results and your preferences.

An international evidence-based guideline (GRADE) with 254 recommendations and practice points, developed with professional societies and patients. The authors stress that the available evidence is mostly low to very low quality.

Keeping muscle while on GLP-1 medications

Part of the weight lost on these medications can come from lean mass, including muscle. Enough protein, resistance training and simple tracking such as arm circumference (MUAC) help make sure more of the loss comes from fat.

Review article: across trials, lean mass made up anywhere from about 15% to 40–60% of total weight lost. Lean mass is not the same as muscle; it also includes organs, bone and water.
